What's worse is more and more people are becoming indifferent and unaware of that fact. People are so worried about their bank accounts that they are forgetting about the things which are more important and carry more morality. Sad.

O/B I agree that there ARE many grey areas to abortion.And obviously there is a stage reached when a post-fetal neonate can transfer from the womb and umbilical cord,to an incubator and OFF! But it's the womans choice as to whether she wants to stay pregnant for SO LONG to reach that stage.
The actual procedure of having a D&C(Dilation and Curettage) is actually procedurally very simple and quick,when in early stage of course,and in a well-equiped,well-funded,experienced staff facility i.e clinic or hospital.
Apart from post-procedural pain/soreness and danger of further hemorrhage due to excess mobility(like getting a tooth pulled).
The most difficult symptons for women(and couples)to deal with,are actually the mental and emotional ones afterwards,which entail mourning,guilt,loss etc like the stages of grieving after the loss of ANY loved one.
In modern western countries where termination of pregnancy is more widely accepted as a solution to a socio/fiscal/physiological'problem' post D&C counselling and psychological help are WIDELY available,within the standard medical/health service,for ANY woman/couple who need emotional/psychological/physical support.It's routine and readily available! And immediate family support is encouraged TOO to avoid the danger OF TABOO!
It's in countries where terminations/abortions are blacklisted as 'sinful' or EVEN ILLEGAL,due to whatever reasons,that back-room chop-shops are rife and the womans physical/emotional and psychological post-procedural well-being are REALLY abandoned and neglected. No back up services AT ALL! Because it's all kept SO SHAMEFUL,SINFUL,TABOO!
America,unfortunately,even though it's a modern western Nation on the surface,remains REALLY behind the times in sex-education,education about use of contraception and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL,SPENDING of MONEY ON RESEARCH and science,and early school education,studying these issues and INFORMING THE YOUNGSTERS before their sexual hormones start doing somersaults!
Hormones abound without cultural/national/religious boundaries! lol!

And, America is one of those BIGGEST culprits,of the above,with inadequate and UNDERFUNDED open education and scientific research in this field,because many in the fundamentalist areas believe that spending money in these vital fields,will INFORM the young TOO MUCH and WILL SOMEHOW encourage pre-marital sex and out of wedlock pregnancy! LOL!
Whereas the reverse is proven to be true! Knowledge is a good prophylactic!
And sadly,still and for many years previous,within the most fundamentalist rural/"bible-belt" areas pre-marital pregnancy,sexual disease(from syphilis,gonorrhea,herpes,HIV etc etc)incest,services of "ladies of the night", and lack of sex-education is STILL rife and 'ABSTINENCE' still low regardless of many PURITY rings they wear! I would have to classify myself as pro-choice with some qualifications. I'm not in favor of late term abortions except in certain circumstances, (health risks for the mother, and rape), since it is proven daily that a fully formed fetus can survive outside the womb. Does that not make that baby a living human inside or outside of the womb? I also believe that our society has developed an immunity to the seriousness of abortion. Clinics and hospitals that make quite a lot of money off of this "simple" procedure promote it as being as easy as getting a tooth pulled, and young girls are led to see it as an easy out for having unprotected sex. The other ills associated with unprotected sex are not "fixed" so easily, and the psychological effects on these young women caused by abortions has not been given near the amount of attention and study as it deserves.

and Grassroots, Why don't you take the time to learn some facts before spouting your simple minded hate speak? The rape kit issue was not when Palin was governor so it did not apply to "ALL THE WOMEN IN ALASKA", and she as a mayor could not "make" a law if she wanted to! The charging for the rape kits was a request from the police chief to the city council and had nothing to do with Palin!

No government has the right to tell a person what they can/can't do with their own bodies in my opinion

You know that woman at the RNC who compared daily abortions to a daily 9/11 is taking a purely personal/spiritual stance which is very selfish and NOT looking at the whole picture.
You could also say that EVERY woman who IS SAVAGELY RAPED every day in the U.S. is the equivalent of one of the VIOLATED towers. Battered,beaten,bruised and destroyed.If a pregnancy stems from rape,it's THAT WOMANS life too,and her choice as to whether to carry or discontinue.
There are SO MANY personal/psychological/medical factors involved,that have NOTHING TO DO with the State/politics.
Ask all the women in Alaska who were raped and sexually abused and FORCED TO PAY FOR THEIR OWN Rape-Kits by Sarah Palin who made it a LAW when she stepped into her 'feminist' office? How many of those women who were RAPED and then found to be pregnant,truly wanted to carry to term,or have an abortion,recover and move on with their lives.If many were poor,indigenous people maybe MANY were forced to carry to birth knowing they couldn't AFFORD A CHILD too?
Prevention/Abstinence/Sex Education/Contraception whatever,should always be an AVAILABLE priority.After that it's UP TO EACH AND EVERY woman/couple.

I believe women should make they own decision.

This issue is brought up in every election - a stigma that the medical profession has made billions. I don't think I will be "resolved" any time soon. I think It should be left up to the woman to make her own choice--not the state or religion.

This is ANOTHER issue which a sympton of the terrible mixture of Church and State.
There are many reasons and circumstance that would make a woman(and the father) consider abortion.
At the end of the day IT HAS TO BE the choice and liberty of the host nurturer,the walking womb,without whom the child could not survive.
There is a place for religious belief AND there is a place and a time for practicality and common-sense.
